S8, Chapter 1: tori4fun

0:00 We do have a content warning for our show, but today's episode is especially dark, and so I want to make a note that this episode contains graphic descriptions of child sexual abuse. So if you're particularly sensitive to that kind of subject matter, you might want to consider skipping this one. Also, unlike previous episodes, I have decided to censor a handful of words that I deemed were just in poor taste. All persons named in this podcast should be considered innocent until proven guilty. Tapes from the Dark Side contains descriptions of violence and sexuality. Listener discretion is advised. During the afternoon hours of March sixteenth, twenty twenty three, forty five year old woman named Eleanor Hunting Hoppy, got into her small suv and began the one and a half hour drive from her home in Charlottesville, Virginia, to a hotel located in Warrenton, a small town about an hour west of the nation's capital. To say that Eleanor was excited for this brief road trip would be an understatement. She had been planning it for weeks, and as her car took the on ramp to US twenty nine North and the White noise of rubber on asphalt began to hum away.

1:30 Sexual fantasies flooded Eleanor's mind, but these were not normal sexual fantasies, and this was not a normal road trip. Eleanor didn't know it at the time, but the man she was planning to meet was not who he said he was. He didn't have an eight year old daughter like he and Eleanor had discussed in their chats. The man was in fact an undercover FBI agent, and when Eleanor reached the hotel where she was planning to stay with this man and his non existent eight year old daughter, she was promptly arrested and taken into custody. Inside eleanor small suv, law enforcement found a pink children's bag that contained lubricant, silk undergarments and a pink silk robe. This robe matched the same one in a picture that Eleanor had sent to the undercover agent along with the message her big girl robe for tonight. This is the depraved story of Eleanor Hunton Hoppy, or as she was known under her online screen name Tory for fun. I think everyone has a bit of a fascination of the dark side. A Charlottesville woman with ties to the Richmond area is being held without bond after the FBI accused her of trying to sexually abuse an eight year old girl. Beginning in late February twenty twenty three, a task force officer with the FBI's Washington Field office was working undercover as part of the Metropolitan Police Department's Federal Bureau of Investigation in short, the MPD dash FBI with their Child Exploitation Task Force. He was operating out of a satellite office in Washington, DC. The undercover agent was frequenting a fetish website that was known as a popular place for people to meet, discuss, and trade homemade images depicting the of children. A user by the name of Teto Tori initiated a private email chat with the undercover agent via the fetish website. Teto Tori informed the undercover agent that she herself was a mother and that she was looking for people to chat with about quote taboo parenting. The agent responded that he was also a father of a young girl. This woman then said that

4:36 she likes to chat on a social media app that uses end to end encryption, and asked if they could take the conversation there. On this encrypted app. Under the screen name Tori for Fun, this woman again made contact with the undercover agent in a series of chat communications that began on February twenty twenty three. They traded locations, and Tory for Fun told the agent she lives in Charlottesville, Virginia. The agent asked if she could verify that she was safe by sending an image of herself holding up a thumb near her breast. Tory for Fun was happy to oblige and sent the undercover an image of herself with her shirt pulled up, exposing her bare breast and holding her thumb up.

5:26 Her face is partially visible in this image, and this was just one of the ways in which we're able to identify Tory for Fun as Eleanor Hunton Hoppy, a married forty five year old mother of two. Eleanor grew up under the name Eleanor Beaumont Hunton. This is important because the Hunton family that she was born into was founder of the largest law firm in Richmond, Virginia, Hunton Andrews and Kurth. They employ over nine hundred lawyers, and according to Daily Progress dot com, their history includes quote the late Louis F. Powell Junior, who served on the US Supreme Court. Going back just three years, we can see that Eleanor has a history with inappropriate sexual conduct.

6:15 In twenty nineteen, she was found guilty and absentia of undressing where prohibited. This incident reportedly occurred during the fall of the same year. She did appeal the case and the charge was dismissed, and seemingly because of this, little else is known about this incident. Eleanor worked at a number of organizations throughout her career. She was an event planner for the University of Virginia, the development manager for the Center of Inquiry, and a development associate for the UVA, where she worked with a team coordinating fundraising events. Perhaps most disturbingly in Eleanor's work history is the short period of time she served as a manager of events and partnerships with an organization called Big Big Sisters of America. According to their website, quote Big Brothers Big Sisters serves young people from age five through young adulthood in one on one mentoring friendships, bigs and littles hang out two to three times a month for a few hours, doing normal everyday activities like seeing a movie, doing homework, playing games, going out to eat, or just hanging out. During her time with this organization, Eleanor would have undoubtedly had access to vulnerable and underprivileged children. Eleanor would go on to marry a man named Joel Hoppy, and she would indeed take his last name.

7:41 I couldn't find the exact date of their marriage, but they had two children together who are now ages ten and twelve. Joel was born in nineteen seventy seven and was only one year the senior to Eleanor. He himself was also intimately involved in the legal system, and his full time job was as magistrate in the Western District of Virginia. In twenty twenty one, the couple separated after a prolonged and disputatious legal battle. Joel contended that his wife, Eleanor was beset with finding other men and women with whom to have sexual relations, and she was often pushing the sexual boundaries of their marriage. I found some potential evidence of this on a social media website when I searched Eleanor's screen name.

8:24 Take all the following with a grain of salt, because it's far from verified. First, I tried Tito Tory, which was her reported user name on the fetish website, but that came up with nothing. Then I tried Tory for Fun, and one Twitter profile seemed like maybe, just maybe it could be a match. Now, firstly, I want to say, there are a number of things that make me think this might not be Eleanor's secret Twitter. Firstly, the count makes a number of references to Las Vegas, and I could find no evidence that Eleanor or Joel lived in Las Vegas or that they were frequent visitors. Even so, the Tory for Fun account from roughly two thousand and nine to twenty fifteen was constantly posting about the swinger lifestyle.

9:11 One quote says, I used to think swinging was for those unhappy relationships, but then a regular party turned wild. Though I should say, there's no real need to find more evidence than what we already have in the chat logs between Eleanor and the undercover agent. In May of twenty twenty one, Eleanor and Joel agreed to joint custody, but after Eleanor's arrest, Joel is seeking full custody of his children, which he will undoubtedly receive as long as the facts of the case stand where they are today. There's currently no evidence that Joel was part of Eleanor's sick and twisted fantasies involving children, and there's currently no evidence that Eleanor victimized her own children, though there's no way for us to truly know that, at least for now. On February twenty seventh, tw Eleanor messaged the undercover agent asking about the abuse he was currently perpetrating against his own daughter. What about you? What do you think the next steps are for you and your daughter? In these encrypted messages, Eleanor told the agent she wanted to visit him in Washington, DC so that together they could abuse the purported eight year old girl. Eleanor repeatedly stated that she wanted to assist in introducing the girl to sexual activity. On March twelve, twenty twenty three, Eleanor made a plan with the agent that she would travel to Washington, DC from Charlottesville. The following exchange was then recorded. I can't

10:48 wait. I'm so excited to have you help out. Can't wait to see you with her. I'm going to be so watching you play with her, and you watching me play with her, Eleanor. And then of course putting her to bed and waking her up to do a few extra things will be so fun. Have you explored her at all? Also? Has she seen videos of little girls with her dad? Yet? Yes? I had a really good link. It had dads and a folder with moms with their kids too. It was fucking hot. The damn link has broken. Now have you seen anything good? A couple of photos here and there, but nothing really great, to be honest, Yeah, before that link, it was the same for me, a few picks from time to time. Eleanor then sent the undercover agent a thirty second long video depicting a small, framed female who appears to be on a bed. The small girl, who appears to be a minor, can only be seen from behind, and she is nude from the waist down. An adult male can be seen her from behind.

12:07 She has then shown face down on a bed with her legs bent and her arms stretched over her head. On March eighth, twenty twenty three, Eleanor wrote, A great thing to do is to wake her up by trying new things. That hazy, dreamlike state is perfect to introduce a variety of new things, especially with someone to help with positioning her body, and then you let her fall right back to sleep. On March twelve, twenty twenty three, she wrote, if I were you, I'd start building up Thursday, telling her you know, it's going to be super fun. We're going to hang out with an old friend of yours. It's going to be like the best night ever. Blah blah blah. And then once I get there, obviously it will take a slight turn. I've loved Annal for a long time, don't worry. I can train her well. On March sixteenth, twenty twenty three, using the encrypted messaging application, Eleanor sent the undercover agent three images. One a prepubescent minor female fully nude with her legs spread. A man can be seen in the child's vagina. To a prepubescent minor female nude from the waist down. She's lying on her back with her legs up in the air while the adult male her vagina. And three a prepubescent minor female fully nude but for a pair of white thigh high socks. The child is

13:39 shown straddling an adult male who is inserted into her during the afternoon hours of March sixteenth, twenty twenty three, after exchanging a handful of messages, the undercover agent and Eleanor decided to change their meeting place from DC to Warrenton, Virginia, a small town of about ten thousand people located approximately an hour's drive west from DC. She then sent the undercover agent more images. Three of these contained abusive material, and also a picture of the pink robe with the message her big girl robe for tonight. 14:30 Eleanor hunting Hobby had one final message exchange with the undercover agent while en route to the hotel in Warrenton. Eleanor, wake her up and let her take a bath. Lots of bubbles and go ahead and make sure you're helping her soap both her and in the tub. And then when she gets out of the tub, just let her wrap up in a big towel and I had to keep her cozy on the couch or something like that, but try not to let her get back in her clothes. I'll be there as soon as I can, and I'll get naked too. Remember this is special daddy daughter night. No clothes needed. Yes, I like that plan, smiley face. I am so bitter that I'm an hour away. It's unreal.

15:28 I'm sorry. Paved will be worth it. Keep me posted and don't forget to wash her, attack and back again, and keep out any toys. Leave stuff like that that you brought with you. Put it right by the bedside table so she knows that this is what we're here to do. Remember, these knights in the hotel with Dad are about nothing but having fun, feeling good. And on this same day, March sixteenth, twenty twenty three, Or was arrested in the hotel parking lot in Warrenton, Virginia. She waived her Miranda rights and began talking with police almost immediately. The story she concocted is completely unbelievable, but it's not unheard of in the context of these types of staying operations. In fact, it's the same exact line I've heard a number of times on Chris Hansen's show To Catch a Predator. You see, as Eleanor explains it, she only came to the hotel out of concern for the child. Though there's a problem with this explanation. Eleanor had absolutely no answer why she had not alerted police to the abuse prior to her arrest, or why she had not contacted any law enforcement authorities at all regarding her communications with the undercover agent, his location, or the fact that he was sexually abusing his daughter. Eleanor also admitted to distributing images of child sexual abuse material to the undercover agent, but insisted that she only did this to keep

17:00 talking. And lastly, Eleanor had absolutely no answer for why there was a child's backpack in her car containing a robe and lubricant. It didn't take long for the FBI to match the Teto Tori account on the fetish website to Eleanor Hunt and Hoppy. In fact, the complaint and arrest warrants state that the images available on her public Facebook profile were a visual match for the woman on the Teto Tori account. Investigator subpoenaed the fetish website for the user's email address, and then subpoena at Google for the owner of the email's identity, which all traced back to Eleanor. On April fourth, twenty twenty three, Eleanor pled not guilty to three charges one distribution of child, two attempted transportation of a minor, would intend to engage in criminal sexual activity in three coon and enticement of a miner. She is currently being held without bond. In their decision to hold eleanor without bond, the judge wrote, quote, although there is little to no evidence that Miss Hoppy poses a flight risk, the government's allegations suggests that she poses a grave danger to this community. First, the government presented evidence that Miss Hoppy has knowledge of sophisticated encrypted communication platforms, which are known to law enforcement as popular applications among people trafficking child. Her alleged

18:30 use of these platforms is indicative of consciousness of wrongdoing. Second, miss Hoppy's alleged actions target the most vulnerable victim population, young minor children. Finally, Miss Hoppies alleged actions demonstrate a willingness to put other minor children at risk. Considering the high risk of danger to the community, this factor weighs strongly in favor of pre trial detention. Taken together, the court finds the government has proved by clear and convincing evidence that no combination of conditions could ensure the safety of the community.
